I’ll See You in Hell!

This is going to be a short post, because I am really unsure what I want to say and yet I feel compelled to say something. Given that base, let me be brief. On a whim I bought a newish Nintendo Switch game called Hades.

Launch trailer for Hades, released on September 17, 2020, by Supergiant Games for the Nintendo Switch.

It’s rare for me to make impulse buys and rarer yet to do so in the video game market. This is a once a decade sort of happening. I played video games quite a bit in middle school. And then less and less and almost not at all as the years have gone by. The exceptions have always been for games like this though: action-oriented adventures grounded in mythology (or Mario Kart). So it was something of a shock to me when I actually clicked the Purchase button. I think at heart I view gaming as a social exercise to be enjoyed in group settings. But sometimes there’s an itch to just run about an indulge the inner imagination through the screen. I understand this is a rather popular title, both from the media and from the fact that I have to wait another month for it to become available again. But that’s okay. I think I’m at a point where I can appreciate the wait as seasoning for the main event.
