The Subtle Joy of Paper

There’s a truth in the texture of an envelope that finds its way to your hand after a journey through the post. And the letter within is an envoy, a pact, a trust. I find that each time I receive one I can’t help but fold and refold the paper, manipulating it in my hands. Often I’ll carry it with me for a time, a talisman of sorts, until it’s worn and faded, spent. For me it’s a way of understanding, an intimacy, a bond.
